Recipe:

Ingredients:
3 to 4 lb. pork roast
freshly ground black pepper
1 can root beer (12 oz.)
1 jar/18 oz of BBQ sauce or 2 to 2.5 cups homemade BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray’s)
Buns for serving

Directions:
Lightly spray/grease your slow cooker pot. Trim the roast of a bit of excess fat (not all of it!). Place the roast in the pot and pepper it, pressing the pepper into the roast. In a bowl, mix the root beer and about 1/3 cup of BBQ sauce. Pour over and around the roast. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours (slow cookers vary so check your roast in 6-8 hour on low range). Drain liquid from slow cooker and shred the roast right in the slow cooker if you like. I like to keep a few tablespoons of the liquid in with the meat. Mix in the remaining bbq sauce and let heat/cook for another 15 to 30 minutes. Add/serve with extra BBQ sauce if you desire. Enjoy!

  1. I loved this! Would love to see more recipes! You did a great job editing. :)

  2. If you use a slow cooker liner, you don't have to spray the cooker. They cost about 20-50 cents each, depending on the brand, and make cleanup a breeze.

  7. Looks tasty! Love how Munchie went from cute lil girl to professional product displayer … I know there is a term for it, just can't think what that is! Lol She was a highlight of your video 🙂 oh, and too funny to hear the growl in the background — glad to know it was your dog and not your tummy :)

  9. I am definitely going to make this next week !  And I am so like you when it comes to not wanting to waste sauces (or whatever) left in a container or jar…sometimes I am tempted to get some kitchen shears out and cut the top off of a plastic bottle to get that last dollop at the bottom…I don't actually do it,  but I have to stuff it deep into the trash, otherwise I'll hear the bottle calling my name, "Don't waste me…come back…come back…" :)
