Summer is here and a great way to beat the heat is to kick back and enjoy a delicious Ice Cold Root Beer Float.

But I’m not talking about the regular Root Beer Floats that you’re used to having as a kid.

No, No, No…

In this video I’m going to share a killer recipe that I just tried today for making healthy sugar-free & fat-free Root Beer Floats that are also high in protein!

This is all you have to do:

– Pour 1 cup of Diet Root Beer (i.e. sugar free root beer) in the blender.
– Add in 2 scoops of vanilla whey protein powder.
– Blend this up until the protein powder is dissolved.
– Stop the blender and add in about 6-8 ice cubes.
– Blend it all up until it’s nice a creamy.

Pour this mixture into a glass, filling it about 3/4 full. Then top up the rest of the glass with more Diet Root Beer. This makes enough for 2 servings.

That’s it!

It tastes just like having vanilla ice cream mixed in with your Root Beer, but all the calories are coming from whey protein without any of the sugar and fat that you’d get with a regular root beer float.

Give this one a try the next time you need a cool summer time treat.

Here are the nutritional facts for you to compare the differences.

Regular A&W Root Beer Float:
Calories: 640
Fat: 10 grams
Carbs: 136 grams
Sugar: 110 grams
Protein: 4 grams

Lee’s High Protein Diet Root Beer Float:
Calories: 135
Fat: 1 gram
Carbs: 1 gram
Sugar: 0
Protein: 30 grams
(Note: this is based on using Iso-Smooth Protein)

  1. I do not normally like vanilla protein but love a float. This taste great!

  2. LOVE this idea!!!! awesome for cutting diet!

  3. probably a capful of rootbeer extract, and some soda water instead

  4. In order to lose weight you need to lift weights, do cardio, and follow a proper fat loss diet.

  5. I buy it from their website BlueStarMuscle [dot] com

  6. I actually made this just now. I think the shake is just 'okay'. It's more like a thick rootbeer/protein shake rather than a root beer float. I think a solution would be adding some vanilla and sugar-free sweetener to the mix, freezing the blend in pieces so they could get chopped in the blender rather than having ice "spreading out" the flavor and to make it thicker & to give more of a ice-cream effect. It's more work but I'm willing to give it a shot.

  7. do you buy the ISO SMOOTH online or is there a store you get it in?

  8. im kinda fat, should i work on losing weight first, or could take it now?

  9. Glad you like it 🙂

  10. I use Iso-Smooth from BlueStarMuscle [dot] com
This is a 4 blend isolate protein that provides fast, medium, and slow digesting proteins for a sustained release.

  11. Antonio Galván

Mr. Hayward, and which one would you recommend? I'm pretty sure there's gotta be dozens and dozens of protein shakes but I rather have a person like you to guide me on this, and thank you for taking the time to answer to all my questions.

  12. Yes, you should consume a high protein diet when training for fat loss. Protein will help to increase your metabolism and maintain your lean muscle while losing fat.

  13. Antonio Galván

Mr. Hayward even though I still have some bodyfat to get ride off is it ok for me to star using supplements like protein shakes?

  14. love this man

  15. 😛 I do it pretty often, I don't believe in having an impeccable diet 24/7 lol. I just eat fairly healthy with the occasional snack no big deal.

  16. i dont know about that, i dont ever give myself a "treat" and i dont think im going overboard.

  17. I'm pretty sure even pro's give themselves treats, like cheat days or w/e. Even if your a fitness enthusiast, never being able to indulge in a little something is a bit overboard :S.

  18. Another good treat idea

  19. Iso smooth vanilla + diet root beer = amazing

  20. wow, thanks for responding, i didn't expect that. But as for the guilt free treat i guess i can understand if u really want something sweet without piggin out. makes sense, ive always found that dried fruit, or smoothies with fat free yogurt, do the trick aswell. Thanks
